North Hollywood housing runs from 1940s bungalows off Magnolia to the newer builds and townhomes that went up around the Arts District. Those two ends of the market need opposite things. A 1947 bungalow rarely has a square opening, so an inside mount that looks tidy on paper leaves a wedge of daylight down one side. We measure the opening at three heights and mount accordingly.

The newer construction near Lankershim has the opposite issue: big windows, thin walls and very little header depth above the glass. That is a bracket problem, not a fabric problem, and it is the thing that makes a shade sag a year after a cheap install.
